Developmental Training Programme


This series of training programmes are designed for parents of children suspected to have developmental and behavioral problems. They aim to equip parents with knowledge of child development and have a better understanding of the potentials of their children. Parents can learn practical theories and skills in training up their children in everyday life.

A brief description of the programmes is as follows

Parenting

(for parents of preschoolers from 1.5 to 6 years of age)

This programme summarises and explains the underlying causes of and the effective ways to deal with the behavioral problems of children. Through the doing exercise and video sharing, parents can learn various techniques for handling temper tantrums of their children.

Self-care and Social Skill

(for parents of preschoolers from 1.5 to 6 years of age)

The growth of young is gradual developmental process and each child has a different speed. This programme helps parents to understand normal developmental process, including their gross motor, fine motor, cognitive and social ability. Through video sharing and recommendation on training activities, parents can learn more on how to train up their child on their development.

This programme enhances parent’s awareness of language development of young children. Through video sharing, to elaborate the techniques on language development. The practical session and discussion will strengthen parents’ confidence in teaching languages to their children.

Play

(for parents of preschoolers from 1.5 to 6 years of age)

This programme shares with parents the importance of playing games with their children. Play helps children develop language and reasoning skills, encourages autonomous thinking and problem solving as well as their ability to focus and control their behavior. With greater interest and confidence in playing games, parents can then help their children to attain all-round development.

Play Skills

The video introduces the seven important roles that parents play in children's games. Through playing with children, parents can play their roles well. In addition to strengthen the parent-child relationship, parents can also learn about children's temperaments and abilities through playing games. Let children explore freely can promote the development of problem-solving skills.

Learning

"Listening" and "speaking" are the foundation of literacy development. To help children learn words, parents can consolidate and improve children's language comprehension and expression skills through some parent-child activities from the early childhood stage. Some game activities are demonstrated in the video, such as reading together, learning about "morphemes", etc., which can not only cultivate parent-child relationship, but also allow children to be exposed to words as early as possible.

Attention

Attention development in school-age children is not fully mature, and most of their behaviors are affected by many factors. The video explores the factors that affect the development of children's attention, and also offers some suggestions for interesting activities to improve child’s attention. The acronym of 4 letters "SEAT" contains some principles for cultivating children's attention. Through playing games with children, they are displayed one by one, making it easy for parents to remember, understand and learn.
