Parent support activities

CAS provides the following support services for our clients. |

Parent Resource Library |

To provide parents with information and resources on various developmental problems.
- Available in all Child Assessment Centres
- Parents of children registered at CACs are welcome to borrow items from the resource library, including books, magazines, toys and equipment

Health Promotion Activities |

To enhance parents' awareness and understanding of children's developmental problems and to enable them to help their children at home.
- A series of health promotion activities, such as Developmental Training Programme and Positive Parenting Program that are conducted in Cantonese, are provided regularly in all CACs
- Information on language stimulation, emotion and behaviour, attention, learning, child guidance and communication will be included.
- Our professional team will arrange parents to attend these programmes according to individual needs

Interim Support Activities

| Objective : |

To provide short-term, basic and practical training for parents so that they can participate actively in the training activities of their children.
- Interim support groups are provided for parents whose children have been assessed in CAS
- Talks, parent workshops and training groups are organised for respective developmental disorders
- Parents are invited to attend these interim support groups according to their children's diagnoses

Self Help Groups

To empower parents to participate in advocacy work for their children with special needs.
- Provide support and expert advice to parent groups
- Develop partnerships with other organisations to promote rehabilitation services
