Child Assessment Service (CAS) provides multidisciplinary assessment and follow up support to children with developmental problems and their families, and is the major public service provider in this area. After assessment of children with developmental problems, professional staff will provide parents with personal guidance about the nature of their children's difficulties and measures to help them. However, members of the public who are not as yet CAS clients also indicated their need for information on developmental problems, so that they may have better understandings of children's developmental needs, as well as whether they need to seek further professional help.

Through the combined efforts of CAS subspecialty teams and their multidisciplinary members, CAS has developed a series of public education pamphlets covering major childhood developmental disorders. In each pamphlet, the nature, cause, features and overall management principles of each condition are described through simple writing and illustrations. Guidelines are provided to parents for helping their children at home, and information given on where to seek help. These education pamphlets were launched in 2004 and were received with great enthusiasm by service providers and the public. Reprinting had to be rapidly done to accommodate demand. The public may download pamphlets and fact sheets for their personal reference, although editing and reproduction are not permitted. We welcome any feedback and valuable suggestions from parents and the public on these materials.
