Campaigns & Events Kick off event「關懷欣賞發展障礙兒童推廣活動開幕典禮」 CAS has commissioned the Census and Statistics Department to conduct a Thematic Household Survey on public awareness and attitudes towards developmental disabilities in children. The survey results are made to public in mid-September 2008. Preliminary findings reveal that the general public does not have sufficient and accurate understanding of these developmental disabilities and acceptance of full integration of these children into the community is in question. In view of that, CAS is planning a series of public education activities in the days to come to address the issue. As a start, a Kick-off Event 「關懷欣賞發展障礙兒童推廣活動開幕典禮」 was held in the afternoon on 21 September 2008 at Shatin Town Hall Plaza. On that day, we were happy to have official notaries and Dr. LEE Lai-shan at the kick off ceremony, followed by a fun fair with stage performance, game stalls and displays run by relevant government departments, NGOs providing services to these children and families as well as parent associations.
